To uninstall Office for Mac 2011 move the applications to the Trash.Once you've removed everything, empty the Trash and restart your Mac to complete the process. Before you remove Office for Mac 2011, quit all Office applications and make sure there's nothing in Trash that you want to keep. Office 2016 for Mac is a version of Office that’s available as a one-time purchase from a retail store or through a volume licensing agreement. It will be supported with security updates and bug fixes, as needed, until October 13, 2020. The minimum supported macOS for Office 2016 for Mac is 10.10 (Yosemite).
Office 2016 for Mac is updated on a regular basis to provide new features, security updates, and non-security updates. Please read the information below if you are currently or have previously experienced errors when trying to install Office on a Mac machine running Sierra.
Updates are available from Microsoft AutoUpdate (MAU). To use MAU, start an Office application, such as Word, and then choose Help > Check for Updates. If you're an admin and want to update the computers in your organization with your existing software deployment tools, you can download and deploy the update packages for each application.
NOTE: Microsoft AutoUpdate provides updates for Office 2016 for Mac, Office for Mac 2011, Skype for Business on Mac, and Lync for Mac 2011. Therefore, you might receive a notification to update Microsoft AutoUpdate even if you're not running Office 2016 for Mac.
